CHRISTMAS COMES EARLY
18 months ago, I was invited to join a group of golfers bound for Turkey and a week of non-stop golf. Regardless of Covid, hopes were high that the trip would go ahead, that was until Grant Shapps MP added the country to the list of forbidden places to visit. Not to be disheartened the organisers changed the venue and on Friday 30 th October people were preparing to fly out the following Thursday to sunny Tenerife. By Saturday 31 st October hopes were dashed as PM Bozo Johnson once again placed the country into lockdown. To make matters worse he also announced the closure of all golf courses until at least the 2 nd December! Hastily put together petitions collecting over 250 000 signatories within 24 hours were to no avail and did not, on this rare occasion, produce another u turn in Bozo’s volte-face premiership.
