COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

RATING Needs improvement.

Since arriving from the West Yorkshire branch, the Judge has attempted to come to terms with the nuances of Cottingham and Skidby, but sadly to no avail. His standard of golf has deteriorated to the point that his handicap is equivalent to that of the appraiser, an accolade that nobody wants or deserves. There is a need for him to take more responsibility for his own actions. Too often he relies on his partner to drag him out of the mire. A responsibility that the Wormburner cannot take, due to his own lack of ability.

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Unacceptable.

Invariably rushed, as he bounces from one course locker room to the next, not necessarily with the correct equipment. This tends to lead to a less than satisfactory start at the first tee but we should always remember this big hitter is a back nine player.  Often goes awol due to alleged demands of his gratis occupation. As he comes to terms with messaging apps on his phone, there have been a few shoots of improvement however, leaving his phone on the bus after our last outing does not bode well for the future.

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

RATING Needs improvement.

In his pomp undoubtedly performed to a high level. Hints of his peak performance appear in every game, only to quickly disappear without trace at the next hole. Always good for a four pointer somewhere along the way but as he often says of himself, “I know!”

Recently produced a fine performance alongside the Metronome as they took Bridlington by storm.

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well

RATING Meets expectations.

This garrulous individual communicates orally to a high standard. Occasionally, listening skills are hampered when the hearing aids remain at home, are covered by his headgear, or on one occasion knocked out of place by the Wormburner.

Has a wealth of golfing stories and knowledge to depart to the unsuspecting individual.

Comprehension of the game and its laws is good as he keeps up to speed with all the recent changes to the fine game.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots.

RATING Needs improvement

One would hope his years of experience in the court room would enable him to make quality decisions on the course, sadly, his execution occasionally falters. Creatively he has a gamut of shots in his locker but they don’t always come out to play.

His irons are a strength, as is his amour-propre character.

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes.

RATING Needs improvement.

Tending towards becoming a fair-weather golferr but has recently shown significant initiative with his development of the compostable food bag waterproof foot liner. In addition, if he forgets to take them off after the game, they will decompose in 6 to 10 weeks.

Regardless of his age his flexibility  is maintained through a daily Miguel Angel Jiminez stretching routine. Not to be seen in public.

Targets 2024

1.       Plan effectively for early starts on the golf course.

2.       Learn the difference between a tea cake, a bread cake and a barm cake.

3.       Continue to participate in the ‘improving self-confidence’ classes.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision. RATING Meets expectations

Depends on the night/day before therefore quality of work is variable.

Tends to be at his best when working with the Doc’ and big money is involved.

Has an unfounded reputation for gaming the system.

Can be a dangerous opponent on the course

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Meets expectations

Depends on the night/day before.

Can be early, on time or late.

Would provide advance notice of absenteeism if only he knew in advance.

Never wines but likes to wine and dine without the dine.

Wednesday golfs smellier, sorry sommelier.

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf RATING Meets expectations

Depends on the night/day before.

In order to manage his workload, relies on multiple diaries; oral, written, electronic, fridge magnets, knotted hankies, chalk and slate, quill and papyrus.

Regardless of forgetfulness will invariably get to the venue. It might not be the right one but at least he’ll get there.

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well

RATING Meets expectations

Depends on the night/day before.

Provides excellent but rare advice and guidance for those willing to listen.

Has fought consistently for women’s rights in the kitchen. Singlehandedly put soup and a roll on the menu board at Skidby.

Ball Finder General but unlike the original Witch Finder does not exert a fee for every ball found.

Tends to litter the course with those he doesn’t want only for me to tidy up after him.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Exceeds expectations

Depends on the night/day before.

Excellent problem-solving skills on the course.  Can read the conditions like a bookies runner.

Due to gumption or indolence never quite gets to be a single figure handicapper. Puts it down to his inability but is kidding nobody.

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Needs Improvement

Depends on the night/day before.

Unlike his pseudonym  tends not to be in a permanently relaxed state. Presents with a face of confusion but underneath it all lies a steely determination to fleece the unsuspecting.

Has difficulty adapting to new courses where a lot of players are intersecting at once. For example, Crosland Heath GC.

In tandem with the Doc’ succeeds particularly well on repeat golf course visits.

Recently had a slight faux pas when playing Withernsea and lacked a few essentials.i.e. a putter.

Targets 2024

1.       Pack the golf bag before going to darts, quiz or Sunday lunch.

2.       Provide advice and guidance for the lesser player more than once a year.

3.       Continue to fight for soup and 2 bread rolls on the Skidby Menu.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

RATING Exceeds Expectations

The big winner of 2023.

Accolades go far and wide as he and his partner, The Big Easy, once again destroyed seniors across the region. Nearer home, he has become the proud owner of The Longbone trophy and the Captain’s Claret Jug but nothing compares to being crowned the first ever Yinji Master!

After 20 years of lessons is this pretender about to take the Metronome’s crown.

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Needs Improvement

Due to the demands of seven-day membership, Hull and District League , Alliance League and seasonal competitions, more irregular than regular on a Wednesday.

Normally arrives on time by the skin of his teeth.

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf. RATING Meets Expectations

Doesn’t let day job get in the way of his golf or his eating habits. Very much a processed food eater. Expertise in purchasing battered fish, steak and ale pies and french fries (chips) as long as they are mushed up.

In his heyday, speciality was teaching his son how to underpay a bill and leg it from foreign restaurants.

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well

RATING Exceeds Expectations

Tends to ‘whats app’ individuals rather than group text but his input is appreciated on the bigger canvas.

Expert oration and discourse within golf groups.

Listens and learns from the golf pro every Tuesday, making him the golfer he is today.

Language skills have also been developed to a new height  through the recent attendance of the F*** brothers.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Meets Expectations

Equipped for all weathers. Knows a bargain when  he sees one.

Dress sense indicates the last time he actually paid for any golf clothing was circa 1990. Needs to ditch the shell suit at some point!

Very careful with his money, considers £3.50 for a fish supper exorbitant.

As for golf, swing pattern well-rehearsed, indicates repetitive approach leads to good golf.

Body shape indicates a gym enthusiast and mixed sauna seeker.

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Meets Expectations

Enjoys a walk as much as his golf. Doesn’t believe “golf is a good walk spoilt”. More,  “golf is a good walk enhanced”.

Not one to make his opinion overtly known, tends to participate in covert operations.

Can adapt well to most new courses.

Ouick witted and dry of humour, for example, when I recently, pulled my drive on the 9th at Skidby, rare I know,  his response was “Look out in the clubhouse!”

Targets 2024

1.       Become a single figure handicapper.

2.       Dine out more often.

3.       Improve Wednesday attendance.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

RATING Exceeds expectations

A mixed bag from the LeBron James of golf this season. Entered into a difficult period of house moving which initially impacted on his game but as the end game appears on the horizon, is coming back bigger and stronger.

Apart from distance with the driver his low running chip is a speciality.

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Unacceptable

When in the country has a tendency to turn up last minute.

As the weather has deteriorated his attendance has become sporadic.

Loves beating his drum to and from golf.

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

RATING Unacceptable

Needs greater commitment to the game of golf. Too often pulls out of at the eleventh hour. Excuses are multiple and repetitive. “Going on holiday, got a late deal, have to visit family, bin wagon bashed me car.” Can only use these so often.

Recently tried the, “my shoes are wet” excuse. Held no truck with the diehards.

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well RATING Needs Improvement

Tends not to read a thread on Whats App until after he has posted, leading to confusion and on occasion derision.

Verbally, communicates well with those around him, “Know what I mean?”

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Meets Expectations

Biggest hitter in the park, when he’s on song, he’s definitely on song. Benefits from long levers and the love of a good women.

Has invested considerably in keeping his equipment clean and up to date. His golf gear is in good nick also.

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Exceeds Expectations

If available will step in last minute to support others. Perfect example of this was his attempt to support Kryton in a four ball. After much nagging from his good buddy he was willing to help out, only to find out Kryton had dumped him for others.

Thankfully doesn’t bare malice. Just as well he’s a lover and not a fighter.

Targets 2024

1.       Settle down.

2.       Invest in a good pair of galoshes.

3.       Avoid bin days.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

Steady eddy, consistently straight off the tee.

Doesn’t need an excuse to get on the course.

Putts left-handed drives right-handed, the perfectly balanced athlete or just a freak!

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

Not the most prolific Wednesday attender but always punctual.

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

Not phased if his game is below par.

Levelheaded approach to success or failure.

Would play 8 days a week if he could

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well

Uses ‘whats app’ intermittently but effectively, drum roll please.

Short back swing ensures good contact 9 times out of 10.

Benefits from quality chipping and putting.

Has a range of problem-solving techniques however creative accountancy may be an issue.

The Big Easy keeps a wary eye!

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Exceeds Expectations

As long as he is not playing golf abroad, will willingly step into the breach when teams are short.

Happy to take on any course, anywhere, anytime.

Annually presents “Wear Something Pink Day” in aid of cancer research, enabling me to win a box of potatoes in the raffle.  Only 25 kilos left!

Proposing that next year he goes back to his professional drumming days and presents “Wear something Punk Day”. Will be nice to see him with all his piercings exposed or even better dressed in his Ziggy Stardust onesie!

Targets 2024

1.       Improve attendance on a Wednesday.

2.       Bring in the auditors to check your creative accountancy.

3.       Learn from Captain Tom’s daughter and don’t use the proceeds from Wear Something Pink Day, to build a spa in the grounds of your house.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision. RATING Meets Expectations

High quality performer although reduction in membership to  5 days may impact on his overall standard. Time will tell.

Makes very few errors when it comes to golf shots, although enjoyed by one and all when he does.

Currently has no need to fix what isn’t broken.

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Exceeds Expectations

Invariably first to arrive and last to go off. Doesn’t moan about it though!

Absenteeism due to dedication to work and Killer concerts. Needs to consider the greater good of the golfers rather than the family/wife. So selfish!

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

RATING Meets Expectations

Reliable and dependable, knows the best routes to every golf course in Hull and the East Riding.

Tends not to engage socially with previous sporting colleagues.  Clearly leaves people behind, some would call him anti-social, but not me!

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well

RATING Exceeds Expectations

Excellent use of Whats App to ensure all players know where and when to attend.  Keeps the Big Easy in check.

Recently discovered organising a golfer’s night out is like herding cats. Quickly relinquished the role to the chairman.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Diabolical

Due to never having a difficult shot is less creative than most, therefore problem-solving skills not required and deemed therefore judges diabolical.

Decision making is tedious. Driver, iron, putter, week in week out, every game, every hole.

Eat, Play, Sleep, Repeat.

Boring as . . . . . .  We all secretly hate him!

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

RATING Meets Expectations

Undoubtedly a good player on his day. Moves up and down the WHS like a rat in a drainpipe.

Quality of golf can be of a high standard but lacks concentration for 18 holes. Tendency to veer off towards ponds, ditches and dykes!

Recently recorded an all time high of six lost balls at Skidby.

Has yet to complete his Level 1 apprenticeship as Tea Boy .

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Meets Expectations

Will attend whenever available. Family comes first; ball pool, toddler pool, play group, fun barn, kinderland funzone, he goes to them all, with or without the grandchildren.

Always punctual on the tee.

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

RATING Unacceptable

Unreliable when it comes to driving to and from golf venues. Is known to circumvent towns and cities to arrive safely, either very early or very late.

Communication Skills

Written and oral communications are clear, organized and effective, listens and comprehends well RATING Diabolical

Golf’s answer to face book, twitter (X), Tik Tok, Instagram, You-tube, Pinterest and Grindr, all rolled into one. Thankfully doesn’t know how to use Snap Chat.

For all you need to know page the Orifice Oracle.

Always questioning and listening, comprehending however is another matter.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Needs improvement

A big hitter for a little fella. To his detriment wants to continually out drive the Beau.

Tends to be in the woods with a wood but has an unerring ability to find a ball in the thickest of thicket. Almost magical if not  a little impossible!

Accuracy of approach is good. Putting exceptional, but “nobody likes to see that!”.

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Diabolical

Not known to adapt his ways.

Knows what he likes and likes what he knows. Even if others don’t!

Lives for a £1, likes to be flexible if he’s in the driving seat for example “Double your money on the last?”

Or “You’ve won the money on the front nine, how about a £1 on the back nine?” Or “50p for 9 holes?”

Targets 2024

1.       Improve focus

2.       Pass L1 apprenticeship scheme.

3.       Learn to drive.

COMMENTS AND EXAMPLES

Quality Of Work

Golf is completed accurately (few or no errors) efficiently within deadlines and with minimal supervision.

RATING Needs improvement

Admits short putts are his bete noir. Can sink a 10 footer and duff a 10 incher.

Even in the heat of the Balaerics, likes to play clean and place whenever the opportunity arises.

Has yet to fulfil his job role this year.

Attendance & Punctuality

Reports for golf on time, provides advance notice of need  absence

RATING Exceeds expectations

Originally first one on the tee, ready to play, regardless of weather conditions. In order to sink a putt famously drew a line in the snow with his club.

Has become drawn to warm weather climates ecently, weakening his ardour, much to the displeasure of his good lady, who by the way “washes his underpants!”

Reliability / Dependability

Consistently performs at  a high level; manages time and workload effectively to meet responsibilities to golf

RATING Exceeds expectations

Can be relied upon to share the odd cleaning cloth with his comaptriots. Balances his game play with the Wednesday boys and his partner well.

His “found ball collection” has recently been submitted to the Guiness Book of Records.

Keeps up to date with all things golf through his annual subscription to “Golfer’s Wives”.

Judgement  & Decision Making

Makes thoughtful well-reasoned decisions; exercises good judgement, resourcefulness and creative problem solving with difficult golf shots

RATING Needs improvement

Tends to over hit when approaching the greens. This may be due to his many years of stoking the boilers on such ships as The Mary Rose, Marie Celeste and the Titanic.

Has had more close calls than Uncle Albert

Initiative & Flexibility

Demonstrates initiative, often seeking out additional responsibility; identifies problems and solutions; thrives on new courses and adjusts to unexpected changes

RATING Meets expectations

Attaches more Heath Robinson devices to his bag than a teenage girl has cuddly toys on her school bag.

Integral lead in the development of essential devices such as, The Golf Ball Finder Glasses, the Golf Ball BBQ set, the Abacus score counter and the world famous, Fake Hair Visor, only 11.99 from Amazon.

Targets 2024

1.       Develop an app that finds lost golf balls. The current concept of a bobbin of thread attached to the ball requires further work.

2.       Reduce the ‘oomph’ in your approach shots.

3.       Regain the will to play in all weathers.
